Resumen

Actualmente la obesidad es un problema de salud importante y creciente a nivel mundial, ya que constituye un factor de riesgo para desarrollar enfermedades como hipertensión arterial y diabetes mellitus tipo 2; sin embargo, aún se estudia la relación que existe con otras entidades del sistema inmune. La presente revisión está centrada en la evidencia que vincula al sobrepeso y la obesidad con factores inmunitarios que de manera directa o indirecta desempeñar un papel transcendental en el desarrollo de asma, alergias e hipersensibilidad a los alimentos (incluyendo alergias e intolerancias alimentarias).

Abstract

Obesity is now one of the most important and growing global health problems because it constitutes a risk factor in the development of diseases such as hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus; however, it still under study the relationships that may exist with other entities related to the immune system. This review focuses on the evidence that links overweight and obesity with immune factors that directly or indirectly could play a role in the development of asthma, allergies and food hypersensitivity (including food allergies and food intolerances).
